Answer polls and questions

Use Polls to review questions assigned to your account, answer Yes or No, add an optional explanation when offered, and update a previous answer.
For: Online ClientUpdated 2026-07-16

#Before you begin

  • Sign in to the correct studio and Online Client account.
  • Read the complete question before answering for a family account.
  • Ask the studio which family member a question concerns when the wording is unclear.
  • Have any requested explanation ready before submitting.

The Polls menu appears only when both the Online Client Polls section and member polls are enabled. Questions can also be limited to member categories, so two accounts in the same studio may see different lists.

#Open Polls & Questions

  1. Select Polls in the main navigation or account menu.
  2. Confirm the page heading is Polls & Questions.
  3. Review the Season, Question, Your Answer, Date Answered, and Action columns.

The list can show:

  • General for a question without a season label;
  • a named season when one is assigned;
  • Not answered when no answer is saved for the signed-in account;
  • Yes or No for a saved answer;
  • Answer for a new response; and
  • Update for a question already answered.

The linked page lists active questions visible to the account. It can include general questions and questions associated with a season; it is not limited only to the current season.

#Answer a question

  1. Select Answer beside the question.
  2. Read the title, full question text, and season label when one appears.
  3. Under Your Answer, select Yes or No.
  4. If Additional Comments (Optional) appears, add any explanation the studio needs.
  5. Select Submit Answer once.
  6. Return to Polls & Questions and confirm the saved answer and date.

Although some questions display an asterisk to emphasize that they are required, the individual answer form expects a Yes or No selection whenever it is submitted. Optional comments can contain up to 5,000 characters.

Important: Poll answers are attached to the signed-in account member; they are not anonymous. Do not include sensitive medical, financial, or legal information unless the studio has specifically requested it through an appropriate process.

#Update an answer

  1. Find the question in Polls & Questions.
  2. Select Update.
  3. Review Your current answer and the saved explanation when shown.
  4. Change Yes or No, and revise the optional comments if needed.
  5. Select Update Answer once.
  6. Confirm the list shows the new answer and updated date.

Updating replaces the saved Yes/No value and explanation for that account and question. It does not create a visible revision history for the client.

If an earlier answer formed part of a waiver, policy agreement, class decision, or staff process, contact the studio after changing it. Updating this poll record does not promise that another completed workflow is reversed.

#Understand pending questions during checkout

DSM Next currently has a second poll experience for unanswered questions. It can appear during checkout as Quick Poll with Answer Poll Questions and Submit Answers controls.

Use that form only where it appears in the active workflow:

  1. Open Answer Poll Questions when checkout presents it.
  2. Answer each required Yes/No question.
  3. Add an explanation when the form offers one.
  4. Select Submit Answers.
  5. Wait for the success message before continuing checkout.

This pending-question form is not a normal navigation destination. It is separate from the linked Polls & Questions history/update page, and its targeting is still under product review. Do not manually edit the URL to look for another poll page.

Important: Submitting a Quick Poll saves answers; it does not submit the order or process payment. Continue the checkout procedure separately.

#What happens next

  • A new answer creates the account's saved response for that question.
  • An update replaces the existing answer and refreshes the answered date.
  • The list displays the saved Yes/No state and the date answered.
  • Questions targeted to categories outside the family account are omitted.
  • Archived or inactive questions are omitted.
  • When answer storage is temporarily unavailable, the page can remain viewable while disabling submission.

The studio can review poll answers through its administrative and reporting tools. Treat the response as information shared with the studio, not as a private note stored only in your browser.

#Confirm it worked

  1. Return to Polls & Questions.
  2. Find the same question.
  3. Confirm Your Answer shows Yes or No.
  4. Confirm Date Answered is populated.
  5. Open Update and verify the current answer and explanation when necessary.

If the success message appeared but the list still says Not answered, reload once. Do not submit repeatedly without checking the saved state.

#Troubleshooting

#Polls is missing

The studio may not have enabled both required poll settings, or no Polls entry may be available in the current Online Client navigation. Contact the studio rather than using a guessed URL.

#There are no active questions

No active question is currently visible to this account. A question may be archived or limited to different member categories. This is not an error by itself.

#Another family sees a question that I do not

Questions can be targeted by member category. Confirm the correct account and ask the studio whether the question is intended for your family.

#Saving answers is temporarily disabled

The question list can load while the answer-storage table is unavailable. Keep a copy of the intended response and contact the studio; repeatedly selecting Submit will not repair the storage issue.

#The page asks for Yes or No even though no asterisk appears

Choose one answer before submitting the individual form. The current server requires an answer on submission even when the question is not visually marked required.

#I answered for the wrong person

Use Update if only the Yes/No response needs correction. If the question was intended for a different family member or affected another workflow, contact the studio and explain which account and question were involved.

#The comments field is missing

The studio did not enable an explanation for that question. Contact the studio through its normal method when additional context is essential.

#A checkout Quick Poll and the Polls page do not match

They are currently separate experiences with different intended contexts. Answer the question where it is presented and contact the studio if a required item remains unresolved. This overlap is a known product-information-architecture gap.
